Hair is healthier when it is trimmed regularly. By trimming frequently, in general we recommend every 6 weeks, and maintaining this schedule will keep hair looking healthy and shiny. Routine maintenance will remove and or reduce mechanical damage from brushes and combs and hot tools. We also recommend using a styling product that has heat protection, this can really prevent unnecessary damage and protect hair when using dryers and other styling tools. A great option we offer our clients is our split end treatment using a special cutting technique, leaving the hair healthier and shinier. Is this a myth or a fact?? If you don’t cut or trim split ends they will get worse. Unfortunately this is true. Typically split ends can split further when not treated and therefore will continue to move up along the hair shaft. Split ends feel rough to the touch and tend to look frizzy. We offer a unique technique to trim your split ends without sacrificing the length of your hair. Our clients who have added this service to their hair care routine are thrilled! They no longer have to sacrifice 3,4 or even 5 inches to rid themselves of a split end problem. Should you change your hair products frequently? At SKG Salon, we believe it is not necessary to change your hair care products frequently. However we do recommend changing your haircare products based on the health and condition of your hair. Sometimes hair needs more moisture or rebonding after highlights or color in cases like this products in the Olaplex line or the Redken Acid Bonding line are our go to recommendations. Then there are other situations when hair needs to have a clarifying treatment. A clarifying shampoo is good to have on hand to use after an extended period of time using a lot of product as this can lead to build up. We have a lot of great products to help keep hair healthy and looking good. Our prices are the same as any other retailers and we will price match if you find it cheaper at another retailer. We also can guarantee that our products are authentic because we buy directly from reputable suppliers who sell only to professionals in the industry. This is another interesting myth. While teaching cosmetology at Skyline College the textbooks in use maintained that hair texture does not change. I disagree and I have seen the texture of hair change with chemical treatments such as color and highlights. When the hair turns gray or after childbirth and other hormonal changes, hair texture can change in each of these situations.
